Bird A Day offers a personal challenge that will cause you to see and
enjoy more birds this year than you might if you don't participate. The
challenge is to see how many days in a row you can see/hear a different species
to add to your personal list. This website helps you track your effort and
allows you to share how you are doing with others as they do the same. more info.....

"Shrikenado" - Bill Boeringer the Theme Master for Bird A Day came up with using the Shrike as our Bird for the year with a Twist. If you've seen the Movie Sharknado you'll understand the theme, otherwise consider the habits of the Shrike or Butcherbird. Butcherbirds are the ecological counterparts of the shrikes, which are only distantly related, but have similar eating habits. They eat mostly insects but also are known to eat lizards. They sometimes impale their prey on sharp vegetation like thorns. Just imagine if Shrikes began flocking together in large groups and devoured everything insight... like locusts.
Birding Rocks- as do all of you who have participated in Bird A Day past years.
In 2014 we had 4 birders break 300 three more that made it 250 days. One Australian will likely finish the year with 365 birds. During 2014 we had more than 30 sign up from
In 2013 we had 6 people break 300, 5 to reach 350 and 4 holding on to complete the year. Incredible! We had several people from Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada give some awesome Bird A Day attempts in 2013.
Congrats to the 2014 Champions

I still plan to upgrade areas of the website. Several other suggestions have been made that would enhance the site.
Fortunately I have been busy with work recently.... a good thing.... so I haven't had as much time as I would like to work on these things, but I hope to get them done soon.
Thank you so much for participating.
